My pictures record my journey connecting to the world around me. The winter shots create eerie feelings. They are thought provoking, ghostly. In Margate Park. the play of light sent an electric pulse through me and the swirling movement at the underpass felt as if long ago, in sepia, the camera froze forever a mysterious moment.Michele C.
Photography gives me opportunities to be creative and spontaneous. I go out with my camera every day; always on the lookout for an image that unexpectedly grabs my attention. In my photos, I tried to capture the cityscape and the ways the sun reflects off our beautiful buildings.Calvin C.
I love fashion and preserving images that allow everyone to see and share the beautiful moments in life. I take a lot of shadow pictures; me casting my movie with dream people, me saying, ‘look at me, see me, look at him, and see him.’ My many shadow pictures are about the hidden wounds that you can’t always see because they’re on the inside.Lynn W.
This is my first year with ASV. I’m really drawn to nature. I love the mix of colors and shapes, heights and textures, the light that accentuates the colors and the sunlight behind the trees was so gorgeous it was magical. I just keep watching and watching. When I walked up to this statue that just appeared in front of me, it was like he was sitting there just waiting for me to come.Sheri H.
My favorite picture is the silhouette of the horse near Union Station. That horse represents freedom as he flies across the sky free.Tom D.
I’m very interested in history, especially Chicago history. After a trip to the Chicago Cultural Center, I got very interested in skyscrapers because Chicago had the earliest hi-rise buildings. All my photos are of Chicago skyscrapers.Thomas W.
The pictures speak for themselves.Barry G.
I really like taking pictures of flowers, abstracts and water. All these things are constantly changing. That’s why I like the night sky. It’s a sign of what’s coming next; rain, nightfall, and eventually the stars will come out.Chester P.
ASV has helped me reconnect with my past and my interests. It makes me feel like a kid out for adventure and at the same time, it gives me total control over the world as I see it. This year, I tried to show the two Chicago’s; the everyday hustle and bustle of the city and the place where people want to retire. It’s like an optical illusion; which Chicago was I photographing?Shawn B.
I like the show. It gives me something to do when I’m not in the hospital with my C.O.P.D. I enjoy it!Roberta J.
