Harmony Health Plan Awards Certificate of Appreciation to ASV

At a special ceremony this week, Catholic Charities and After Supper Visions (ASV) were acknowledged as a “Community Partner” by Harmony Health Plan, a subsidiary of WellCare Health Plans, Inc.

At an Open House at its new Chicago office on Wacker Drive, Doris Wilson, Catholic Charities Community Development Department accepted the Certificate of Appreciation (below) on behalf of Catholic Charities. Also attending were Jody O’Connor and Noreen Russo, representing ASV.  WellCare generously purchased two large ASV prints, taken by Gloria Cassens and Joe T.,  and part of the Harmony Art Project, which focuses on creating work environments that are reflective of the community in which Harmony serves. Gloria’s and Joe’s prints were unveiled at the Open House, and are now part of this new WellCare  office décor.

“Harmony is singularly focused on serving our members day in and day out,” said Dave Reynolds, WellCare’s Regional President, which includes Illinois. “One way we do this is by collaborating with organizations and leaders in the communities in which our members live to help us better connect them to the care and social services they need for improved health outcomes.”

Catholic Charities was recognized as being one of the nonprofit organizations in Illinois that has established a partnership with Harmony Health Plan. Besides working with nonprofit agencies, WellCare Health Plans, Inc. provides managed care services to government-sponsored health care programs, focusing on Medicaid and Medicare, offering health plans for families, children, the aged, blind and the disabled.

ASV Photo Team Member Noreen Russo was delighted to attend on behalf of ASV and its artists. She said, “I was proud of the Visions artists included at this event. Their artwork and their talents are now part of a very cool space, filled with art that will light up the faces of everyone who sees them. The beautiful works of art now displayed at WellCare are from a variety of programs and projects throughout the city, each strengthening confidence and hope in the artists themselves. Certificate of Appreciation - Visions

“Great Things To Offer”

Special thanks to Windy City LIVE!, Rick Kogan and ABC-7 Chicago for the masterful job they did in telling the ASV story this week. Rick shared a brief history of ASV with viewers, then focused a large portion of the segment on photographer Amie Davis, and how she represents a Visions artist hoping to grow in her knowledge of photography as she strives for greater self-sufficiency through the program. Rick said, “The artists here at the Visions project show us that the often overlooked people in our city have GREAT things to offer, if we’d just give them a chance.”

Please check back, as the video link to the Windy City LIVE! segment will be posted here soon.
