After Supper Visions

A winter chill may still be in the air, but warmth, smiles and friendship continue to be found each week at the ASV Tuesday Photo Classes. Mike B., a longtime member of the program, continues to show his generous spirit in sharing his photography expertise with others. In the first photo below, Mike and ASV Photo Team member Jody O’Connor look through and discuss various images Mike has taken and stored on his own laptop. In the second photo, Mike discusses photos with Marie H., a new artist in the program this year. In the third photo, Mike has a wonderful exchange of ideas with returning ASV artists  Tom D., (left) and Cheryl H. (right).

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Every artist was first an amateur.”

THANK YOU to all ASV artists who are always willing to offer support to others,  wherever they are in their journey.

From September each year, when ASV is introduced to Tuesday Night Supper Guests, until Opening Night of the Photo Exhibition in June, one of the most exciting aspects of the program is the collaboration that evolves among the artists during Photo Editing Class.

The classes are led by ASV Photo Team members, several of whom are professional photographers. These kind volunteers are happy to share their expertise with the artists, and they welcome a lively exchange of ideas as all discuss subject, lighting, and the many other factors that go into creating photographic artwork.

On Tuesday, January 26th, the class was especially inspiring. As ASV Photo Team member Jody O’Connor was leading the class, Marie H. spoke up and said, “This is all so wonderful! This is so fun. Everyone does a great job with this project!” Marie’s comments encouraged other artists to express their thoughts and, before long, the entire group was fully engaged in asking each other’s opinions about their photos. Jody had just one word to describe the class: “Beautiful.”
